PCW volunteers have compiled a list of controversial library materials found in your child(ren)'s school library catalog. Parent permission / supervision is recommended when reviewing images / text found in the summary links. We hope the additional information provided highlights how hand-picked excerpts and reviews could be misleading to students, parents, teachers, and district leadership when determining if material is age appropriate and compliant with PUSD policies and regulations. If you find one of these titles to be required reading in your student's Language Arts / English class, please know that teachers are to give an alternate option when requested. Consider reaching out to your school principal with concerns and questions. If a satisfactory resolution does not take place, PCW can offer some guidance as to next steps.

Resources outside the book itself include: BookLooks.org, school site communication, Follett / Destiny Discover, student & parent testimonies at school board meetings & news articles / interviews. Volunteers will update the school library lists of controversial text, as time permits.
